Still-life painting is a tried and true method for improving one’s painting skills. The set-up is stationery and the artist has the time to really investigate and learn to see subtle nuances in value and color. In this class, students will learn how to set up a still life and paint it from life. Painting different textures and materials, such as glass, metal, porcelain, and fabric will be demonstrated so the student can get an understanding of how to portray these materials. We will also discuss lighting, composition, and color.
