About
The DaVinci Studios
Steve & Robin Williamson
Founder and fine artist, Robin Williamson, is proud to present The DaVinci Studios! For centuries, drawing and painting skills have been handed down through a master training a small group of apprentices. At The DaVinci Studios, we provide small classes with individualized attention. Our goal is to teach sound, foundational skills based on the methods of the old masters so that students can acquire proficiency in their skills and find a personal voice in their art. We accomplish this through Robin Williamson’s experience in painting and teaching and also by hosting workshops with world-class guest instructors. The DaVinci Studios believes that good painting starts with good drawing, so all classes include teaching drawing skills and also tips and tools to help students improve quickly.

The DaVinci Studios offers weekly classes, single and multi-day workshops, and workshops taught by world-renowned visiting artists. Our emphasis is primarily on portrait and figurative drawing and painting in oils. Our mission is to provide the highest quality art instruction, in the traditions of the old masters. Classes are offered on a rotating schedule, so students can choose the classes they want to attend. This allows you to study the skills of realist art at your own pace. The DaVinci Studios is fully committed to help you develop into the artist you want to be.
Learning never exhausts the mind. - Leonardo da Vinci
DaVinci's Influence
When Robin began to study art more seriously, she already held bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering. She understands how anatomy, physics, and engineering are intertwined in figurative painting. Leonardo da Vinci's understanding of these topics allowed him to create amazing masterpieces. The DaVinci Studios name is a nod to this amazing artist.
Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian artist, engineer, scientist, sculptor, and architect who was born in 1452. He is regarded as one of the greatest painters in the history of art. He was the artist behind some very famous paintings such as "Mona Lisa", "The Baptism of Christ", and "the Last Supper". While his fame rested on his achievements as a painter, he also become known for his drawings on a variety of subjects including anatomy, astronomy, cartography to name a few. His Vitruvian Man drawing (shown above) is regarded as a cultural icon.
He was also revered for this technological ingenuity. He conceptualized flying machines, armored fighting vehicles, ways to concentrate solar power, and an adding machine. Most of his designs weren't even feasible during his lifetime because the technology didn't exist. He made substantial discoveries in anatomy, civil engineering, hydrodynamics, geology, and optics. His combination of artistic mastery and engineering genius was the model of the "Renaissance man". It is said that his motto was Ostinato Rigore. This translates to something like "persistent rigor." Da Vinci tirelessly pursued his art, from moving line drawings to designs for incredible inventions, and allowed no obstacle or challenge to deter him.
Who created DaVinci?
DaVinci was an incredible artist with many gifts and talents, well-deserving of all the accolades he received throughout the ages. He was creative on so many levels and possessed skills that were ahead of his time. Yet even at his greatest moment, he was only the created, not the creator. God, creator of heavens and the earth created DaVinci as well as each one of us. Made in His image, God gives us all talents and skills and simply asks that we use them for His glory. That’s what we long to do at The DaVinci Studios, to bring Him honor and use our talents to help others learn and succeed along their journey in art.
